Montpellier II: Elevated Mountain Living with a Minimalist Twist

High in the Quebec mountains, Montpellier II balances raw wilderness and refined minimalism with a mischievous wink. The house’s palette reads like a poem: white oak walls, pale stone floors and terracotta accents echoing the cliffs outside. Blanc Studio Interiors worked hand in glove with the architects to make sure every board and slab feels like it sprouted from the forest. Broad windows and sliding glass panels erase the boundary between inside and out, as if the fir trees themselves are watching you sip your tea.

The heart of the home is a sunken living room anchored by a terracotta‑clad fireplace. Built‑in cabinetry hugs the walls; custom oak benches and low tables invite conversation rather than clutter. Tekio pendant lights float overhead like glowing paper lanterns. It’s minimalist, yes, but not cold. The natural textures and thoughtful craftsmanship make the space feel like a modern cave – one that happens to have a killer view. This isn’t the mountain man cabin of your imagination; it’s a forward‑thinking retreat that asks you to slow down, look out at the landscape and realise that quiet can be its own kind of luxury.
